We’ve said it before; it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season. Of course, you should take some time out to make sure you’re taken care of, but what about all of your other responsibilities? Time management, when done well, can really reduce your stress. Follow these tips to become a pro at managing your time and reduce your stress too!
Prioritize
You want to do everything, and be everything to everyone, but that’s just not feasible. If there are things that seem to be a little out of your reach, just say no. It’s ok if you can’t make it to or do everything. Make time for the simple, easy goals, and leave the rest for another time.
Limit Time
This isn’t just about the amount of time you spend fretting, or prepping, or wrapping. Limit the amount of time you spend planning event for your family. Choose one specific thing you know you and your family will enjoy and do that. It could be an ice skating event or driving through a holiday lights show. Pick one thing and do that one thing. Speaking of family, sometimes our exterior family can be stressful. Limit the amount of time you spend with them if you can. This isn’t to say you should ignore them, or be selfish. Be mindful of how much of yourself you give to them. Give what you can; there will be someone else there to do the rest.
Ask for Help
It really does take a village, and that’s not just for raising kids. If you need help decorating or making cookies, ask your children or even neighbors to help. Have a cookie exchange, or a tree decorating party. Whatever you do, make it fun!
Rest
Listen to your body, it tells you when it’s time to rest. Take a break and enjoy the rewards of your hard work. You’ve done a lot for everyone else; take some time to take care of yourself. Schedule a massage to get the kinks out before Christmas, and schedule another mid-January to help ease you out of the holiday season. Your body and mind will thank you.
Have a conversation with one of our therapists about the massages we offer, and our essential oils. One of the best ways to unwind is to use aromatherapy. Learn what oils are best for any ailments you are suffering from. It’s the holiday season, you should enjoy it stress-free. Ask us how.
