We are excited to host a great event tonight, the Holistic Weight Management Class/Workshop! What does that mean, though? For many of you, you may know what it means to manage your weight, but what does it mean to do it ‘holistically’? Holistic medicine at its core addresses the human as a whole; treating the problem as opposed to treating the symptoms. When this concept is applied to weight-loss, it helps you achieve long-term weight loss that becomes a part of your life, not just a part of a momentary need.
So, why do you need the ‘holistic’ portion of weight loss when weight loss naturally treats the problem (eat too much=gain weight; eat less=lose weight). Because often the cause of weight gain isn’t just about eating too much; it’s about why you’re eating too much. Are you an emotional eater? Are you eating out of boredom? Are you a stress eater? It’s important to find out the root to weight gain otherwise yo-yo dieting can cause serious health problems.
So, how does holistic weight management achieve a different level of weight loss, where you’re more likely to keep the weight off? In a number of ways; with positive reinforcement, meditation, and many more methods which will be discussed at our event tonight.
All of these methods help you identify what causes you to choose to eat. Do you think “I’m hungry, it’s time to eat”? Or, do you think, “I’m upset, I deserve to eat”. Learning what your problematic thought patters may be will help you identify why you binge, and when.
Know that after you’ve attended our workshop and are working towards healing yourself towards weight loss that no two persons are the same, meaning no one method will work for all. Actually thinking that one method is a panacea can also lead you to failure. Although food is not an addiction per say, many do treat it and behave towards it as if it is. Getting to the root is your surest way to weight loss success!
