We’re so excited about the two major events we are going to be a part of in the coming months. We shared DoahFest with you in our last blog, and really hope it inspires you to be a part of it-it’s a truly magnificent and fun event that hits all the senses! Another event we hope you can join us at is Shensara.
Shensara is a three day camp on the shoreline of the Shenandoah River. The event will take place from July 29-31, and will feature many exciting activities, music, and projects to participate in. Enjoy the sounds from different musicians sharing their spiritual music such as DC Supersonic Kirtan, The Ascendants, and Lobo Marino to name a few.
Step away from the music and relax in The Mindful Cove-an area surrounded by trees where you can go to meditate and reflect with only the sounds of the instructors during guided meditations. At night, enjoy Stargazing led by astronomy professor, Stewart Soon. Soon previously worked modeling the Photodissociation region of a star and is currently a physics professor and physics instructor trainer at NoVa. . Learn about the stars, planets and more or just lay on the grass and enjoy the sky.
Being as this takes place off the Shenandoah, you’re invited to take a break from the classes and workshops and go swimming! But of course, all of this will work up an appetite, and you can learn the principles and benefits of permaculture and how to incorporate them into your living space. Go on a walk and learn about native plants and learn how to plan and design an herb garden in Edible World.
After you’ve learned what to use, you can learn how to cook during the Cooking Class. Discover new vegan or vegetarian recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks, and more! After this, you can head over to the Marketplace. Here you can speak, listen, teach and learn about all respectful points of view. Topics will include community organizing, reducing our environmental impact, stress reduction and more. Take what you learn and enjoy community conversation around the Bonfire while enjoying the beats of a drum circle.
Take time to relax and enjoy a massage from one of our specialists! We will be offering massages throughout your time spent at Shensara. Enjoy a Yoga class, a massage, and relax in the natural setting backdropped by wonderful sights, sounds, and smells! Visit the website for more information: www.shesara.com. Find here what you can and cannot bring, and please contact us to find out where exactly will be and when to make sure you get your massage during your time at the festival! See you there!
